Our Story
Founded in 1984 by Ajmal Khan Mohammed, AKM Music has been a cornerstone of Abu Dhabi's music community for four decades. What began as a small music shop has grown into a full music centre — retail, repairs, rentals, lessons and a rehearsal studio.
Our mission is simple: help musicians of every level find the right instrument, keep it playing, and grow their skills. We believe music transforms lives, and we work to make it accessible to everyone.
Today AKM Music is one of the most trusted names in the Gulf for musical instruments, repairs, rentals and music classes — including Trinity exam preparation.
Four Decades of Music
Ajmal Khan Mohammed opens AKM Music on Hamdan Road, Abu Dhabi.
The in-house repair workshop is established, servicing guitars, pianos, strings and wind instruments.
Music lessons and instrument rentals launch, with ZAK branches opening in Dubai (Al Karamah & Deira).

Where is AKM Music located?
Our showroom is at Plot C146, Hamdan Road No 5, behind Millennium Hotel, Al Dana, Abu Dhabi. We also have ZAK branches in Al Karamah and Deira, Dubai.
What are your opening hours?
We're open Saturday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Friday from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
Do you repair musical instruments?
Yes. Our in-house workshop has repaired guitars, pianos, violins, ouds, drums and wind instruments for over 40 years. Bring your instrument to the showroom for a free assessment and honest quote.
Do you offer music lessons?
Yes — one-on-one lessons for piano, guitar, drums, vocals and more. AED 525 per month covers 8 sessions of 45 minutes, twice a week, for all ages and levels, including Trinity exam preparation.
Can I rent an instrument or book the studio?
Yes. We rent pianos, guitars, drum kits and PA systems on daily, weekly and monthly terms, and our rehearsal/recording studio can be booked online — AED 100/hour solo or AED 150/hour for a full band.
