Music Lessons in Abu Dhabi: How to Choose the Right Class (2026 Guide)

Choosing music lessons in Abu Dhabi can feel like choosing a school: prices, schedules, exam boards and teachers all differ. Having taught students in our Hamdan Road showroom for years, these are the questions we suggest every parent and adult learner asks before signing up anywhere.

One-on-one or group?

Group classes are cheaper per hour but move at the pace of the group. One-on-one lessons follow the student — a fast learner is not held back and a slower one is not left behind. All lessons at AKM Music are one-on-one.

How often, and for how long?

Two short lessons a week usually beat one long one, especially for beginners and children: less to forget between lessons, and more chances to correct a habit early. Our classes are 45 minutes, twice a week.

Is there an exam path?

Graded exams give students a goal and a recognised certificate. In the UAE the two common boards are Trinity College London and ABRSM — our Trinity vs ABRSM guide explains the difference. Our teachers prepare students for Trinity graded exams, so ask for it when you register.

Which instrument to start on

Piano and keyboard give the clearest picture of music theory and suit young beginners. Guitar needs a little finger strength, and children start on a smaller classical guitar. Drums need coordination and somewhere to practise. Singing works at any age. At AKM Music you can learn piano, guitar, drums, singing and oud.

Practice at home

Progress comes from the days between lessons. A student learning piano needs a keyboard or piano at home — you can buy or rent one rather than commit on day one. Drummers and bands without space can book our rehearsal studio by the hour.

What lessons cost at AKM Music

AED 525 per month for 8 one-on-one lessons of 45 minutes, twice a week — the same for every instrument. Lessons are by appointment, Saturday to Thursday 9 AM to 9 PM and Friday 4:30 PM to 9 PM.

Fill in the registration form on our music classes page with the student's name, instrument and level. It goes straight to our WhatsApp, and a teacher replies to confirm the schedule and start date.
