Setting Up a Home Practice Space That Kids Actually Use
The easiest way to get a child to practise is to make practice effortless to start. A small, dedicated space does most of the work.
Keep the instrument out and ready
An instrument in a case in a cupboard gets played far less than one on a stand, ready to go. A guitar stand or an always-set-up keyboard removes the friction.
Get the basics right
A proper stool or chair at the right height, a music stand, decent light, and a tuner within reach. For keyboards, a headphone socket means practice never disturbs the household.
Reduce distractions, not fun
A quiet corner away from the TV works better than a bedroom full of toys. Keep chord charts or exam pieces on the stand so there is always something to play.
Make it theirs
