Protecting Your Instrument in UAE Heat, Humidity & AC

The UAE's heat, humidity and constant air conditioning are tough on instruments. A few simple habits keep yours sounding and looking great for years.

Keep wood away from direct AC

Sudden temperature and humidity swings crack wood and throw acoustic instruments out of tune. Never park a guitar, violin or piano directly under or in front of an AC vent.

Control humidity

Acoustic guitars and pianos prefer roughly 45–55% humidity. Use case humidifiers for guitars and a room hygrometer for pianos. In very dry, heavily air-conditioned rooms, wood dries out and frets can feel sharp.

Clean and store properly

Wipe strings and bodies down after playing, loosen nothing you don't understand, and store instruments in their cases when not in use. Keep them out of car boots and direct sunlight.

Service on schedule
